Talkin' the Tea of Theatre

Today on the podcast, I am joined by the one, AND ONLY, Taylor Simon! Taylor has been one of my best friends since transitioning from my large liberal-arts college, Miami OH, to a smaller conservatory in New York City. In this week’s episode, we discuss the re-opening of NYC in the aftermath of the coronavirus and how our education has been affected. We also discuss acting resumes, and our opinions of white-washing found throughout the entertainment industry. I honestly forget just how many theatre companies have been involved with white-washing, and it was so nice to be able to speak out about it with another fellow actor and how detrimental it is to our industry and people of color. We touch on the Black Lives Matter Movement, as complete allies and advocates for change that has been needed in this country for decades. Later in the episode, we discuss rehearsal schedules with school and how which schedule-types were successful for us and experiences that were not. Taylor, after leaving a cushy job in Nashville, uprooted her entire life, as well as her fiancés, to move to the Big Apple and pursue her dreams of being a professional performer. After being swayed by her friends and family in Nashville (where she also had MULTIPLE professional gigs), she took the plunge and how lucky I am to have had the chance to befriend her!

I hope you find advice and humor in this episode, and maybe have a cup of tea to go along with us!
